Future Tunnelling Activities

3-DECK GREAT İSTANBUL TUNNEL

The new mega project in İstanbul, the “3-Deck Great İstanbul Tunnel”, will be first 3-deck tunnel in the world and will consist of both the metro line and dual motorway. The tunnel is estimated to cost $3,5 billion.

The project covers a great tunnel with 17,5 m diameters and 4,5 km in length. There are 2×2 lane highway and dual line metro in scope of the great tunnel. It will be integrated with rail systems and highway lines.

Within the project; there are 31 km metro line having 14 stations and 16,5 km highway. The station located at Golden Horn (Haliç) crossing of 350 m metro line will be constructed under sea with the method of immersed tube.

With completion of the project, access with the highway will be provided in 14 minutes to Hasdal Interchange in European Side, to Çamlık Interchange in Anatolian Side and will be provided in 45 minutes from İncirli to Söğütlüçeşme by metro. It is expected that 6,5 million passengers a day benefit from the line.


DOLMABAHÇE-KİLYOS TUNNELS

The Dolmabahçe-Kilyos Tunnels Project in İstanbul consists of three sections. In this sections there are 6 tunnels, which will be excavated by NATM. The total length of this four tunnels are approximately 20,4 km. The excavation works of the Dolmabahçe-Levazım tunnel are started.


KAĞITHANE-BÜYÜKÇEKMECE TUNNELS

In the Kağıthane-Büyükçekmece Tunnels Project in İstanbul there are 8 tunnels. Two different methods will be used for these tunnels. The first two tunnels will be excavated by NATM and the others will be excavated by TBM. The total length of this eight tunnels are approximately 26,7 km.


HAREM-KÜÇÜKSU TUNNELS

The Harem-Küçüksu Tunnels Project in İstanbul consists of 3 double tube tunnels. The total length of this three tunnels are approximately 9,2 km.


YENİSAHRA-BOSTANCI-KÜÇÜKYALI TUNNELS

The Yenisahra-Bostancı-Küçükyalı Tunnels Project in İstanbul consists of two sections. In this sections there are 2 double tube tunnels and total length of these tunnels are approximately 6,0 km.
